We can feel ourselves come alive again as the snow melt loosens from the jagged peaks of the Rockies and joins the gushing currents of our New Mexico’s rivers. High desert plateaus rejuvenate with flowering cacti, otters frolic in secret eddies, and Canada geese, in long rope formations, return to their nesting grounds.
This spring travel takes on new significance as we begin to emerge after two years of hunkering down during the pandemic. Record numbers of Americans stopped going to the office and to the school room. We stayed home, refrained from travel, and held the course.
